Abstract

Pleomorphic adenoma, sometimes called the mixed tumor, is one of the common benign tumors of major and minor salivary glands especially in the parotid gland.
And the rare extraoral ectopic sites of pleomorphic adenoma are the pharynx, nose, paransal sinuses, external auditory meatus, middle ear, temporal bone, lacrimal gland, larynx, trachea, and bronchial system.
In these cases, the point of origin is usually a mucosal gland, followed in frequency by heterotopic aberrant salivary gland tissue.
Now we will report a rare case of ectopic pleomorphic adenoma in the maxillary sinus probably originating from mucosal glands of the maxillary sinus or a heterotopic minor salivary gland in the maxillary sinus, with a review of literature about
the
histologic subclassification.
